Infection of appendix is called appendicitis, if not treated properly in time may result in Appendicular lump formation, Perforation of appendix and pus in the peritoneal cavity.
Statically one in 2000 person suffer from Appendicitis during their eyetime. Patient feels pain in right side of lower abdomen which increased blood counts and elongated C- reactive Protein.
Ultrasound and CT Scan of abdomen are the most important Diagnostic investigations.
Once the diagnosis of acute appendicitis is confirmed surgery is recommended.
Laparoscopic Appendicectomy is done under general anaesthesia. Patient is allowed to take liquids orally & the Same evening, is allowed to walk once out of anesthesia and can be discharged from hospital after 24 hours of surgery.
Patient can resume their normal activities and office work after 5-7 days.
